Location.
Vortex Blue Spring is about 3.5 miles northwest
from Ponce de Leon. It is 5 miles north of I-10 (exit #15) and is 4 miles
north of Hwy 90 on Hwy 81.
Description.
Vortex Blue Spring is about 250 ft in diameter with
sloping sides, and an average depth, away from the vent, of about 30 ft.
The mouth of the vent is 50 ft below surface; the vent measures 9 by 12
ft and extends to a depth of about 70 ft. At least one other cavern reaches
down to a depth of 125 ft. This is a commercial dive site and is often
used for OW training.
